ලංකාදීප අද මේක වාර්ථා කරලා තිබුනා. හිතට සහනයක් දැනුන ගුරුවරයෙක් එක ප්‍රශ්නෙකින් නිදහස් උනා කියලා. මෙතන වෙන වැඩකුත් වෙලා තිබුනා. ඒක තමයි තවත් ගුරුවරයෙක්ම නරකදේට උදව් උපකාර කිරීම. අද මේක ගොඩක් වෙන දෙයක්. වැඩක් කරණ මිනිස්සුන්ට විරුද්ධව වැඩ කරණ අය වැඩියි. ගුරුවරු අතර මෙම තත්වය ඉතාම බරපතලයි.

I am Aruna Chaminda Pushpakumara. I was born as the eldest of my family. I have one sister. we live in Galle. I was a extrovert character from my childhood. I used to be with my grandmother when I was a child. She was my first teacher. She lived in Polonnaruwa and to day I believe, the time I spent with my grandmother has made me who I am today. From the childhood I wanted to learn every thing. I didn’t want to pass the examinations. But wanted to learn how things work. I was not a tamed boy. As my grandmother most of the time had to visit my school for principals, class teacher’s messages. I did two things from the beginning. One was mathematics. The other was English.I met an English teacher who could inspire me to be a teacher one day.
I got through my OL with a distinction for mathematics. Then every one in my family wanted me to learn to be an engineer. But I wanted to be a doctor. I got through the GCE AL. But couldn’t enter the university. Then I applied for national college of education. I got selected for Mahaweli National College of Education. This is the place where I became a different man. I followed the teacher training course and of course I rather followed IT over there. Most of the time I observed thing deeply and I had the ability to endure thing thoroughly. After three years of my training I came out from the college.
Even to day I would like to thank full my teachers over there. Madam Rathnayake,Madam Manik wawegama. Especially Assistant Principal Mr.Premadasa of Nugawela Boys College was some people I will never forget.
As a whole by Teacher training I got vast knowledge, and experiences which I absorbed through out that time period helped me to work and think not only a Teacher but a counselor, also as a matured person who can understand things and how the universe works.
I got my teacher appointment in 2006. I came to Batuwangala Maha Vidyalaya as an English teacher. Batuwangala Maha Vidyalaya is a Beautiful location. I was living in busy environment before coming here. But after I came to Batuwangala I felt that I came to the place where I meant to be. So Finally I studied about the village and one day mathematics teacher Mr.Sarath brought me in to the computer lab. I saw more than 20 computers were there. Dustfull environment. Only three pcs were preferably could use. Mr.Sarath talked to me and he talked to principal and so I became the in charge of the lab. I cleaned the lab for more than 24 hours with senior students. Students were curios abut their new teacher who rarely speaks Sinhala. I finished the labs security levels and opened the lab for children. We published a website for our school. Within one month. Student became friendly and I always asked them to take me as a friend who knows more than them.I also have given them the freedom to think up to far far away so they can explore things in different ways. I asked them always to start thinking where I stopped. I taught them not to pass all that examinations but to live.
One day accidentally Mr.Block Jayathissa who was the Southern province IT director for SEMP talked to me. So as we were given evillage project. From there we has come across lots of obstacles. But my students, and me was always silent but working. To day I have bough the innocent students to the global village. Batuwangala is 65km away from Galle city. But now I have made it one click to the whole world. I want to see a day where my students use computers as professionals do one day.

Now I work in another school. The hydro power plant and computer Lab of Batuwangala Maha Vidyala is no more.. I don't know what happened. But surely there were ignorant fools behind my transfer. I got married and now I am working in Hiniduma Mallika maha Vidyalaya. Same role but different place. I don't feel that this school is different coz same people with same attitudes are here. So up to date my profile is this.

මේ සියවසේදීත් ලංකාවේ කැකිල්ලේ නඩු තීන්දු දෙන බව ඔප්පු කරන්නක්. වැරදිකරුට ප්රශංසා! නිවැරදිකරුට දඩුවම්! වප්ප හිමි මේ ආණ්ඩුවේ ඉහළ පුටු එක්ක තියෙන කුප්රකට සම්බන්ධතා මේකට හේතු වුණේ නැති බවට කාට හරි සහතික වෙන්න පුලුවන්ද?මේ හිමියෝ වගේ ‘ගුරැන්’ගෙන් ගුරු සංහතියත් , මේ වගේ මහේස්ත්රාත්වරුන්ගෙන් උසාවියත් බේරා නොගත්තොත් මේ රටට යක්ෂයාගේම පිහිටයි!
රට බේරගන්න ඕන වෙන කාගෙන්වත් නෙවෙයි. තල් අත්තට බෙලි ගෙඩිය වැටුනැහේ හැම එකටම රටේ දේශපාලය පටලන තමුං වගේ අයගෙන්. මෙතන අවවාද කරලා තියෙනවා හාමුදුරුවන්ට. නමුත් අපේ සමාජය අද මේ තරමටම පිරිහුනේ මෙහෙම ගුරුවරුන්ට හිරිහැර කරපු නිසයි. ගරු අධිකරණය ඒක තේරුං අරං තියෙන එකට ප්රශංසා කල යුතුයි.

කිංකිනාච්චි දැක්කේ නැද්ද විජයරත්න මහත්මිය කරලා තියෙන හරිය. ඔය ළමයා එක්ක හාමුදුරුවන්ට පුද්ගලික පුශ්නයක් තිබුනා කියලා නෑනේ. වෙලා තියෙන්නේ කලයුතු දේ කල කෙනා කූඩුවට යවන්න එතුමිය උදව් කල එක. ඔයවගේ තුමියන් මේ රටේ ඇතිවෙන්න ඉන්නවා. තමංගේ ළමයගේ දඩුවම් කල යුතු වරදට දඩුවම් කරලා හදන එයාලා අනෙක් ළමයින්ට ඔහේ යන අතේ යන්න ඇරලා නිකං ඉන්නවා.
මැදපෙරදිග ලමුන්ට ගල් ගසා මැරීමත්, අෆ්‍රිකාවේ ලමුන් සතුන්ට කන්න දීමත් ඒ රටවල සංස්කෘතික තත්වයන්ට අදාලව සාදාරනයී. ඒ වාගේම ලමුන්ට තැලීම ලංකාවේ සංස්කෘතිය අදාලව සාදාරනයී. ඊට අමතරව, වදුරන් සහ අනෙකුත් සතුනුත් ලමුන්ට ශාරීක දඩුවමේ දෙන බවා පරිසරවේදීන් කියනවා. සිංගප්පුරුවේ, ලෝකයේ හොදම අද්‍යාපන ක්‍රමය ඇතැයී නම් දරා තිබුනත්, ළමුන්ට ශාරීරික වේදනා දීමේ සංස්කෘතියක් ඒ රටේ නැහැ. බොහොමයක් දියුනු රටවල නැහැ.
කෙසේ නමුත් ගුරුවරුන් ලමුන්ට ගහන්නේ ආදරයටයැයී කියන කතාව මම පිලිගන්නේ නැහැ. අකාලයේ ගෙඩි හැදෙන අබ ගස් ඇත්තා වාගේම, ආදරය නිසාම දරුවන්ට ශාරීරික දඩුවම් දෙන ගුරුවරු නැතුවා නොවෙන නමුත්, බොහෝ ගුරුවරුනුත්, වැඩිහිටියනුත්, දෙමාපියනුත්, ළමුන්ට තල්ලනේ කෝපය, වෛරය යනාදී ප්‍රාතමික හැගීම් වලට යටත් වෙලාමයී. තමාගේ සිතට ආ කේන්තිය නිසා තමාගේ ශාරිරික සහ පදවි බලය යොදාගෙන ලමයෙකුට දඩුවම් නොකල ගුරුවරයෙක් මට මේ වෙනකම් හමු වෙලා නැහැ.
අපේ මුත්තාව, මී මුත්තා විසින් දඩු කදෙ ගසා නිරාහාරව තැබූ බව කීවා. එතරම් කෲර නැති නමුත් , අපේ අප්පච්චිව කොලුවා කාලයේ නිරුවතින් ගස් බැද, කඩි ගොටු ශරීරයට දැමූ බව කීවා. (ඒ දඩුවම් වල කෲර බවත්, පශ්චාත් ප්‍රදේශයට ඇස්ලෝන් බට සහ කම්බිකූරු දමා සිරකරුවන්ට වඳ දිමේ කෲරකමත් මට තවමත් සිතා ගන්නත් නොහැක. ) මා පොඩි කාලයේ, එවැනි දඩුවම් නොලැබුනත්, රූලෙන්, කෝට්ටෙන්, වයර් වලින් ගැසීමත්, හුනු කොට්ටෙන් මූනට ගැසීමත්, මූනේ කලු ගෑමත් වාගේ කෲර ශාරිරික සහ මානසික වද වේදනා ලබා දුන්නා. නමුත් දැන් මාගේ පරම්පරාවේ බොහෝමයක් දෙමාපියන් ඊට වඩා සුලු පරිමානයේ දඩුවම් තමයී ලමුන්ට දෙන්නේ. ඒ නිසා සෙමින් සෙමින් හෝ අපේ සමාජය දියුනු වෙන බව මගේ අදහසයී.
අතිරේක මහේශ්ෂාත් තුමිය පමණක් නොවෙයී, ඔවැනි නඩු තීන්දු කොටුකිතයීයා, රබ්බඩාඅයීයා සහා මහදැන මුත්තා විසිනුත් ලබා දී තිබෙනවා.
මගේ පුංචි පිලිතුර අවසාන කිරීමට පෙර අපේ අප්පච්චි ගිය සතියේ කී කතාවක් ලිවිය යුතුයී. ගෙදර දොර දෙවනත් කරණ, දඟ කොල්ලෙකු වෙන මගේ කොලුවා ගැන, විශාමික ගුරුවරුන් වන මාගේ දෙමව්පියන් සමග සංවාදයේ යෙදුනු කල, මාගේ පියා අවසානයේ බොහෝ පසුතැවිලි වෙන හඩින් කීවේ පහත් කීවේ, “ඔය ගොල්ලෝ පොඩි කාලේ අපි ගැහැවා තැලුවා තමයී, ඒ වුනාට ඒක හොද නැහැ. දරුවන්ට ගහන්න යන්න එපා”. කියලායී.

මං එකග නෑ කොලූ. ඔව් ඹබතුමා කියන්නේ සත්‍යයක්. පමණක් ළමුන් එක්ක ඹය තර්කය හරි. නමුත් සමහර ළමුන් එසේ නෙවෙයි. මෙතන හාමුදුරුවෝ හැම ළමයටම දඩුවම් කලා කියලා නෑ. එක්කෙනයි. ඒක උසාවි යනකං ගිහිං.
මගේ අත් දැකීම කොලූ සී දේවි ළමයි ඉන්නවා. කිසිම කරදරයක් නැතුව තමගේ ඉගෙන ගන්න රාජකාරිය හරියට කරං ඉන්න. නමුත් සමහර ළමයි ඉන්නවා රාමුවක් ඇතුලේ දැඩි පාලනයකින් කටයුතු කලයුතු අය. නමුත් ගුරුවරු ඒවලට මැදි වෙන්න කැමති නෑ. හේතුව මෙන්න මේ ප්‍රවෘතිය වගේ දේවල්. ඒක නිසා කමයි අද ළමයි තමංට ඕන විදියට හැදෙන්නේ.

අද සාමන්‍ය මට්ටමේ ළමයෙකුයී, මීට වසර සීයකට ඉස්සර කාලේ හිටපු සාමාන්‍ය ලමයෙකුයී අරගෙන සංසන්දනය කරන්න අවස්තාව ලැබුනෝතින් තේරෙයී, දැන් ලමයා, දැනූමෙන් වැඩියී, කරුණාවෙන් වැඩියී සහ හැදියාවෙනුත් වැඩි බව.
ළමයා සහ වැඩිහිටියා සමග සංසන්දනයේදී, වැඩිහිටි “ශිෂ්‍යන්” ළමුන්ට වඩා නරකයී (නරකයී කියන වචනය මෙතැනතී යොදා ගත හැකිනම්). නමුත් ගුරුවරු ලමුන්ට තලනවා වාගේ, වැඩිහිටියන්ට (ශිෂ්‍යන්ට) තලන්න යන්නේ නැත්තේ, වැඩිහිටියෙකු නිසා තමාගේ සිසුවා පිලිබද ආදරයක් නැති නිසා නොවෙයී, ඒ පුද්ගලයා ශාරීරිකව තමාගේම මට්ටමේ ඉන්න නිසා, සහ අනෙත් අතට ළමයා ශාරීරිකව තර්ජනයක් නොවෙන නිසා.
ළමුන්ට තැලීම ප්‍රාතිමික වානර ගතිලක්ශන වලින්ම් පැවත එන තවත් අංගයක් පමණයී. ගෙදර වැඩ නොකරන, පන්තියේ කතා බහ කරන, වෙලාවට නොපැමිනෙන, ගුරුවරයාටත් විහුලු කරන, වැඩිහිහිටියන්ට ශාරීරික වද වේදනා නොදී ඉගැන්වීය හැකිනම්, ළමුන්ට ඊට වඩා පහසුවෙන් ඉගැන්විය හැකියි. අවශ්‍යවන්නේ ගුරුවරයාගේ හැකියාව පමණයී.
බලාගෙන ගියාම දැන් ලංකාව මාර රටක් බවට පත්වෙමින් පවතී. අඩිකරන ඇත්තේ වැරදි කරුට දඬුවම් දීමට විනා ගොන් පාර්ට් රස කර පෙන්වීමට නොවේ
අපේ රජය ආකර්යක්ෂම බව ඔබ කියයි. අපේ නීති පැරණි වැඩි බව ඔබ කියයි. නගර සභාවෙන් කුණු එකතු කරගෙන යන්නේ නැති බව ඔබ කියයි. දුරකථන ක්‍රියා විරහිත වී ඇති බව, දුම්රිය සේවය විහිලුවක් වී ඇති බව ඔබ කියයි. අපේ ගුවන් සේවය ලෝකයේ නරකම ගුවන් සේවය බවත්, ලියුමක් කිසිදාක එය ළගා විය යුතු ස්ථානයට ළගා නොවන බවත් ඔබ කියයි. අපේ රට බල්ලාට ගොස් ඇති බවත්, වලට වැටී ඇති බවත් ඔබ කියයි. ඔබ දිගින් දිගටම කියයි…කියයි…කියයි..කියයි..කියයි..

දඩබ්බර ළමය පාසලේදී හැදුවෙ නැත්නම් කවද හරි දවසක දාමරිකයෙක් හෝ සමාජයට හිසරදයක් වන පුද්ගලයෙකුද වෙනව ඉහත අදහස් දක්වපු මහත්වරුන්ට මම මතක් කරල දෙන්න කැමතියි තල අහුරක් හොරාට කටේ දාගත්තු ළමයගෙ කථාව අහල නැත්නම් දන්න කෙනෙ‍ක්ගෙන් අහගන්න…
හොරෙන් රසවත් දේයක් කටේ දාගත්තේ නැති ලමයෙක් එක්කරගෙන ආවොතින් මම පටාචාරාගේ ලමයීට නැවතත් පන අරන් දෙනවා. දඩබ්බර ලමයී දාමරිකයන් වෙන බවට සාදක කොහෙද තියෙන්නේ? සමාජයට සපුරා වැඩදායක වුනු දඩබ්බර ලමුන් ගනනාවක් ගැනම මට කියන්න පුලුවන් වාගේම (දුටු ගැමුනුගේ ඉදලා මහින්ද රාජපක්ශ දක්වා ), දාමරිකයෝ වෙච්ච යහපත් ලමුන් ගනනාවක් ගැනත් මට කියන්න පුලුවන්.

Mostly likely the children coming from a disturbed environment may display disturbed behaviors. A mature society in a developed nation, has a lot of safely nets to make sure these problem children are dealt with humanely. A mature teacher would put their egos down and get in to a one on one discussion and treat the misbehaving children kindly. Immature teachers will cruelly punish the child with extreme prejudice. This make the child who is tormented at home to be tormented at school too.
It is unfortunate that tender children are subjected to cruel punishments, harassment and humiliation.
It looks like the court has subjected the victim to further humiliation, going by our age old primitive traditions of “worshiping” the adults with power. The student in question is a “victim” in multiple ways now. He must have been a victim at home (which explains his unruly behavior) and then he became a victim at school, and now the “kekille” court has made him a victim at courts. Under what authority the magistrate has the power to order someone to kneel down in-front of another? Those who romanticize this drama, please tell me to which century do you guys think we should go back and live?
